drug rehab and alcohol rehab. why addicts and alcoholics fail treatment

Most addicts and alcohols enter rehab programs as either a last resort or because they are forced into it. Last resort types usually have low self esteem and poor prospects for recovery. They present as being sad and depressed. Those forced into treatment are usually angry and resentful. In both cases, the addict and alcohol relent after a short period and actually feel relieved. The lying and deceit has stopped as well as dealing with the low end drug world.

Failure occurs when the substance abuser has difficulty believing in the recovery process. The belief system is a major element of the recovery process. The substance abuser must believe that following the Addington house program will give him/her the successful outcome needed to become and stay sober. They need to transfer this belief system to our after-care follow-up because it requires dedication and perserverence. The failure occurs because the substance abuser does not work the program designed for them.
