Drug alcohol rehab-controlled drinking myth

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Those “profressionals”, who propose the absurb thought, that an alcoholic can control drinking, are doing their clients a harmful disservice. As one of our residents, at Addington House, put it. “I will drink all your alcohol and then punch you in the mouth”. Alcoholism and drug abuse are serious disorders that respond well to 12 step programs because the causal factors are addressed. Controlled drinking deals only with the symptom and gives the drinker a legit reason to continue. responsible treatment professionals know that abstinence is the only proven method. Twelve step programs combined with the support of AA, and in the case of drug abuse, CA and NA, gives the substance abuser a real opportunity to get the needed help.

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Christmas Party

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

As usual, this years party was a wonderful success. Well over 200 graduates and theor families joined our present day residents in a rousing and entertaining gathering. The graduates provided continuity and hope for the future successes of the present group. Lots of good food and feelings of warmth made for an mind blowing experience. It was also a time to thank the many volunteers, who give the time and provide inspiration. It was also a time for the staff to sit back and reflect on the fantastic job they are doing. It gives us all a chance to see the fruits of our work.
